About Catherine van Kampen, Attorney at Law
Catherine van Kampen is an American-trained and New Jersey licensed attorney. Catherine is fluent in English and Dutch. Her professional areas of focus are commercial litigation, government investigations and securities law. Ms. van Kampen has been part of large litigation teams involved in litigating complex securities and financial fraud cases from case inception through trial preparation.
Catherine has also worked on numerous trans-border Dutch language document reviews on behalf of Dutch and Belgian global banks and corporations. Ms. van Kampen has translated thousands Dutch documents, conducting privilege and redaction reviews and e-discovery, and provided live, on-demand, simultaneous translations from Dutch-to-English and English-to-Dutch.
Ms. van Kampen has over two decades of international business and legal experience. She has served as a Vice President at FCB NY, a global advertising agency, as well as In-house Legal Counsel for Centric Communications Worldwide, a New York-based media and marketing agency she co-founded.
Prior to pursuing a full-time career in law, Ms. van Kampen enjoyed a successful career in media and marketing, working with several international clients including the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, the Berlin Tourist Board, the City and Port of Rotterdam and the Amsterdam Diamond Center. Her work on behalf of the British Virgin Islands, including establishing the New York-based British Virgin Islands Press Office, received numerous industry awards and appeared in major media outlets throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.
After graduating from college, Ms. van Kampen worked at the State of New Jersey's Division of International Trade, Office of Foreign Investment, where she worked to promote the State of New Jersey to European and Asian investors. She represented the State of New Jersey on international trade missions to Europe and Asia, traveling with Governor Kean of New Jersey and his International Trade Representative, Ming Hsu.
Ms. van Kampen is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, and Seton Hall University's School of Law. During law school, Ms. van Kampen completed legal work at Seton Hall University's Center for Social Justice, Immigration Law Clinic, working on behalf of indigent clients seeking asylum in the United States. After law school, Ms. van Kampen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Margaret M. McVeigh in New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division, and was trained as a court-certified mediator. Ms. van Kampen is also a graduate of the Inns of Court.
Ms. van Kampen has lived and studied in Zwolle, Netherlands as an American Field Student. She has traveled extensively throughout North America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. She has served on the Board of the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association and been active in travel-related organizations to promote global tourism and cultural exchange.
